Deputy Minister of Education visits Ghana TVET Service, calls for support in advancing Government’s Transformation Agenda

The Deputy Minister of Education responsible for TVET, Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, paid an official visit to the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service headquarters on Tuesday, 3rd September, 2024 where he was warmly welcomed by the Director-General of the Service, Mr. David Prah, along with key staff and officials.

The visit formed part of the Deputy Minister’s ongoing engagement with educational institutions nationwide, aimed at fostering closer collaboration between the Ministry and the Ghana TVET Service as the government intensifies her efforts to transforming the educational landscape in Ghana.

In his welcome address, Mr. David Prah expressed the Service’s appreciation for the Deputy Minister’s visit and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to the government’s education agenda, particularly in the area of vocational and technical education.

He highlighted ongoing initiatives to enhance the quality and accessibility of TVET programs across the nation and pledged the Service’s full support in achieving the government’s goals.

In response to questions about resource allocation and infrastructure development, Prof. Nyarko assured the staff that the government remains committed to addressing these challenges.

He reiterated the Ministry’s plans to expand and modernize TVET facilities, ensuring they meet international standards and equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in a competitive global market.

The Deputy Minister also addressed concerns regarding staff training and capacity building.

He announced upcoming initiatives aimed at enhancing the professional development of TVET educators, noting that, continuous training is vital to maintaining high standards in technical education.

The Deputy Education Minister concluded his visit with a tour to the TVET Service facilities, where he and his team had the opportunity to observe ongoing projects.
