GWCL grants amnesty to defaulting customers

The Ghana Water Company Limited, (GWCL), will from next month(August) grant amnesty to some defaulting customers in a bid to collect all arrears owed to the company.

A statement signed by the Head of Public Relations and Communications at the GWCL, Stanley Martey, said customers with two or more months’ arrears will be pardoned to enable them to settle all outstanding bills before the end of next month, or risk having their names published in the National Dailies.

The statement noted that all customers with issues on their bills should contact the nearest District Office for rectification.

Also, those who have illegally connected water to their properties are advised to report themselves to any Regional or District GWCL Offices for their services to be regularized.

It encouraged all customers to take advantage of the amnesty to pay their bills or face the law.

The statement said all collection and pay points are opened during working hours, adding that customers can pay their bills via mobile money channels with all the telecommunications networks.

It also advised the public to contact GWCL offices on the following WhatsApp numbers; 0555123393, 0555155524, or call 0207385088, 0207385089, 0207385090 as well as the toll-free line 0800 40 000 for Vodafone cell and landlines only and 0302 218240 for all other networks.
