CCLG-Africa Commends Prez. Mahama t for establishing green transition within the energy ministry
The executives and members of the Climate Communications and Local Governance-Africa (CCLG-Africa) have commended the John Dramani Mahama-led government for establishing the green transition within the energy ministry.
According to the group, the establishment of the green transition within the energy ministry demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing climate change and environmental sustainability.
In a statement signed by the president of CCLG-Africa, Mr. Kofi Don-Agor, while his outfit sees the establishment of the green transition within the energy ministry as a positive step, they believe a more comprehensive approach could necessarily be effective and tackle these global challenges.
CCLG-Africa is of the view that a dedicated ministry integrating climate change, environment, and green transition to facilitate better coordination among government departments, agencies, and stakeholders would have been the ideal way to go.
“A unified ministry would have ensured a cohesive response to interconnected issues, enabling us to:
Firstly, leverage resources efficiently, streamlining funding and allocation.
Secondly, streamline decision-making, by reducing bureaucratic barriers.
Lastly, Drive meaningful progress, towards achieving tangible results in emissions reduction, sustainable development, and environmental conservation
We further urge the government to take bold steps towards robust programs and activities addressing climate change, environmental sustainability, and green transition. By working together, we can create a sustainable future where economic growth, social justice, and environmental protection thrive.
We look forward to collaborating with the Government of Ghana and stakeholders towards a greener, and sustainable future.” Portions of the statement read.
