Jean Mensa again!!! rubbishes NDC’s claim of winning; Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, and Ablekuma North 2024 parliamentary election…insists declaration of results was illegal

Ghana’s electoral management body, the Electoral Commission (EC) has maintained its earlier stance that the parliamentary results for the Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, and Ablekuma North constituencies are invalid and unenforceable.

Addressing the media in Accra on Thursday, December 19, 2024, the Chairperson of the Commission, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa insisted that the declaration of the results from the above-mentioned constituencies was made under duress, adding that electoral officials were threatened and the destruction of ballot papers during the process.

Out of 12 constituencies requiring the re-collation of parliamentary results, three—Suhum, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa north constituencies have successfully undergone the process.

The EC Chairperson emphasized that the collation process in Okaikwei Central and Ablekuma North failed to follow proper procedures, further rendering the results unacceptable.

“In the case of Okaikwei Central, the winner was declared without collating results from 31 polling stations. In the case of the Ablekuma North, a winner was declared without collating results from 62 polling stations.

This is unacceptable, the declarations were made under threats and the Commission considers these as illegal. Those declarations similar in other constituencies will not be upheld,” she explained
