Bawah Abdulai replaces Dr. Adam Atiku as the new CEO of TTH
A senior official at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Dr. Abubakar Bawah Abdulai, has been appointed by President John Dramani Mahama to replace Dr. Adam Atiku as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).
His appointment comes on the heels of the dismissal of Dr. Adam Atiku, who was relieved of his duties on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
The dismissal followed an unannounced visit to the facility by Health Minister, Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, in response to the death of a patient, one Bavug Salim.
The patient reportedly died due to the unavailability of a functional ventilator at the hospital’s emergency department.
Dr. Bawah Abdulai’s appointment marks a significant leadership change at the hospital amid rising tensions between the medical community and government officials.
