MASLOC "rubbishes" NPP’s claim of favouring NDC affiliates…says its loan disbursements are determined by applicants’ eligibility and compliance with established requirements.

The management of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has strongly dismissed allegations made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), clarifying that its credit facilities are distributed strictly based on institutional guidelines, applicant eligibility, and regulatory compliance.
The rebuttal follows recent political friction and accusations from the opposition NPP, which claimed that the state-backed microfinance agency was selectively disbursing funds and assets to individuals affiliated with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a formal statement addressing the matter, MASLOC maintained that it operates strictly as a non-partisan national institution mandated to enhance job creation and reduce poverty across the country, irrespective of political leanings.
“Our loan disbursements are determined by applicants’ eligibility and compliance with established requirements,” the state agency clarified. Management emphasized that every individual or group seeking a facility must successfully navigate the standard assessment procedures outlined in the MASLOC Operations Manual before any funds are approved or released.
Under its current Microcredit Group Loan scheme, beneficiary groups must consist of 5 to 25 members who maintain sound internal leadership, share a common operational interest, and fall within the eligible age bracket of 18 to 65 years.
The organization reiterated that individual group members are capped at a maximum of GH¢5,000, with a limit of GH¢50,000 per group, ensuring that funds are fairly rationed to serve vulnerable populations, market women, youth, and small-scale agro-processors.
The leadership of MASLOC urged political actors to refrain from weaponizing the operations of the Centre for partisan points, assuring the Ghanaian public of its continuous commitment to transparency, financial inclusion, and fair treatment for all qualified citizens.
