Eni Ghana, a subsidiary of Eni, a global technology-driven energy company operating the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project, is said to increase its daily supply of natural gas by 30 million standard cubic feet (30MMscfd), raising the total volume delivered to 270 MMscfd.

The natural gas expansion marks a critical milestone in Ghana’s long-term strategy to build a resilient and sustainable energy future while prioritising local energy needs.

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced that effective Sunday, July 13, 2025, ENI will increase its daily supply of natural gas by 30MMscfd, raising the total volume delivered to 270 MMscfd, which it said is a major upgrade in the country’s natural gas supply

According to the ministry, natural gas expansion forms part of the government’s efforts to strengthen Ghana’s energy security and sustainability.

The enhancement, described as a strategic intervention, is aimed at improving the reliability of the country’s energy infrastructure.

The ministry disclosed that ENI will temporarily suspend its gas export operations for power generation during the transition period to facilitate the supply boost, which it says is necessary to optimise the domestic supply chain.

In anticipation of the short-term impact, the Spokesperson and Head of Communication at the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, Richmond Rockson, explained in a statement that the ministry has worked closely with key stakeholders in the power sector to implement contingency measures.

“These measures include enhanced monitoring of power generation and contingency plans to ensure minimal impact on power supply,” he said

Mr. Rockson assured the public that the Ministry remains committed to managing the transition smoothly and maintaining a stable electricity supply across the country.

“We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the public and stakeholders during this period of enhancement,” a portion of the statement read.
