Nii Lantey Vanderpuye bemoans the proper handling of DRIP machines...calls for enhanced maintiance culture

The National Coordinator for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Mr. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has bemoaned the proper handling of the DRIP machines by the authorities of the various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

Thus, he has cautioned the coordinating directors and the road engineers at the various MMDAs to put in place a proper maintenance plan to ensure the machines’ lifespan.

The DRIP National Coordinator gave the caution when the National DRIP Secretariat toured the Obuasi East and West Municipal assemblies as part of a nationwide inspection of all the machines in the country.

According to Mr. Vanderpuye, the nationwide inspection tour forms part of preparations for the smooth take-off of the 2025 program of work.

At both Obuasi East and West Municipal assemblies, the National Coordinator, who was accompanied by the Deputy Director General of NADMO, Samuel Aboagye, and ING. Danquah, the Ashanti regional liaison of J.A Plant Pool identified that the assemblies lack the appropriate infrastructure for safekeeping of the equipment entrusted in their care.

As a way of keeping the machines from early wear and tear, Mr. Vanderpuye urged the assemblies to urgently provide sheds for them.

He also criticised the lack of proper care for the machines and admonished the new operators and district coordinators to change the narrative on maintenance culture.

The DRIP National Coordinator, querried the district coordinating directors and the road engineers in the two assemblies why most of the machines were not properly washed after their usage before being parked for months.

He ordered the officials to immediately take all those unwashed machines to the washing bays for thorough cleaning and care.
