Apaak, Alhassan Suhuyini,, Dumelo, Srem-Sai, 8 others penciled for deputy ministers-designate

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 12 individuals to serve as Deputy Ministers-designate in his administration, along with one Minister of State for Public Sector Reforms.

The nominations, submitted to Parliament through the Speaker, are per Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the Constitution.

The nominees are as follows: Ministry of Finance: Thomas Nyarko Ampem, Ministry of the Interior: Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, Ministry of Defence: Ernest Brogya Gyenfi, Ministry of Education: Clement Abas Apaak, Ministry of Energy & Green Transition: Richard Gyan-Mensah, and Ministry of Roads & Highways: Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini.

The rest are: Ministry of Justice & Attorney General: Justice Srem-Sai, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources: Yusif Sulemana, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs: Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources: Gizella Tettey-Agbotui, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts: Yussif Issaka Jajah, Ministry of Food and Agriculture: John Kofi Setor Dumelo and Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry: Samson Ahi

Additionally, President Mahama has nominated Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba as Minister of State for Public Sector Reforms.

The nominations are now subject to prior approval by Parliament. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, stated, “The President has submitted the names of the under-listed to Parliament, through the Speaker, for prior approval to serve as Deputy Ministers.”

The nominated individuals are expected to bring their expertise and experience to their respective ministries, contributing to the overall development and progress of the nation.

The appointments demonstrate President Mahama’s commitment to a dynamic and inclusive government.
