CONIWAS honours Plan International Ghana for sustained support to the Mole Conference Series

Plan International Ghana, an international Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO) that advocates for children’s rights and gender equality in Ghana, has been honoured for its consistent and invaluable support towards the successful organization of the annual Mole Conference Series organised by the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS).

The annual MOLE Conference Series is Ghana’s flagship Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) policy dialogue platform.

A plaque and a citation were presented to Plan International Ghana during the opening ceremony of the 36th edition of the conference at the Marlin Beach Resort in Gomoa-Fetteh.

The recognition, according to the organisers underscores Plan International Ghana’s long-standing partnership with CONIWA.

Receiving the award on behalf of Plan International Ghana, Mr. William Domapielle, Project Manager of the Integrated Package for Sustainable Development (I-PADEV), expressed appreciation to CONIWAS and the entire WASH fraternity for the honour.

He reaffirmed Plan International Ghana’s commitment to advancing inclusive and sustainable WASH services across the country, emphasizing that partnerships like the MOLE Conference remain central to shaping effective policies and amplifying the voices of underserved communities.

“This recognition is a motivation for us to deepen our collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that everyone, everywhere, has access to clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene,” Mr. Domapielle noted.

Plan International Ghana has, over the years, played a pivotal role in supporting the MOLE Conference through funding, technical expertise, and policy advocacy.

Its contributions have helped sustain the conference as the longest-running multi-stakeholder WASH platform in sub-Saharan Africa, driving policy discussions, accountability, and innovation in the sector.

The 36th MOLE Conference, on the theme “Accelerating WASH Financing for Sustainable Development,” has brought together government officials, civil society organizations, development partners, and private sector actors to deliberate on practical financing solutions to bridge the funding gap in Ghana’s WASH sector.

Executive Secretary of CONIWAS, Basilia Nanbigne, commended Plan International Ghana for its “unwavering partnership and leadership” in WASH advocacy, describing the organization as “a pillar of strength” behind the success of the MOLE Conference over the decades.
