The 9th Parliament of Ghana has officially established its key committees, including the Appointment Committee, which has been finalized.

This committee, chaired by First Deputy Speaker, Honorable Bernard Ahiafor, comprises notable members of parliament from both caucuses, reflecting a diverse range of opinions.

The committee comprises seven National Democratic Congress (NDC) and four New Patriotic Party (NPP) members of Parliament.

The committee is responsible for vetting President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees.

As outlined in Article 103 of the 1992 Constitution and the standing orders of Parliament, the Appointment Committee is responsible for vetting President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees.

The committee’s primary objective is to ensure a rigorous yet fair vetting process, scrutinising each nominee’s qualifications and suitability for their respective roles.

The establishment of this committee marks a significant milestone in the 9th Parliament’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability in government. By carefully evaluating the president’s nominees, the Appointment Committee plays a vital role in shaping the country’s leadership and ensuring that only the most qualified individuals hold public office.
