A4CG CONGRATULATES PARLIAMENT FOR THE PASSAGE OF THE HUMAN SEXUAL RIGHTS AND FAMILY VALUES BILL, 2024

Advocates for Christ Ghana (A4CG), a nonprofit professional Christian advocacy group together with its partners, allies, associates, and friends have congratulated Ghana’s Parliament for passing the bill on human sexual rights and family values.

In a statement issued in Accra, the group said it note with gratitude the significant milestone achieved in Ghana’s Parliament on 28th February 2024 when the bill on human sexual rights and family values was passed into law.

This according to A4CG is a victory for humanity as the LGBTQI+ philosophy and practice threatens the very existence of humans in the near distant future.

“The significance of passing this bill for Ghana is to have in place a law that protects our long-cherished values and socio-cultural norms relating to gender, marriage, and procreation.

As a Christian group with membership from various professional backgrounds, denominations, and para church organizations, we acknowledge that the passing of this bill aligns with the faith, belief, and teachings of more than 95% of the population of which 71% are Christians.

Sequel to the above, we wish to congratulate the Parliament of Ghana and its leadership for continuing to stand with the vast majority of Ghanaians in protecting national norms relating to human sexual rights and family values with the passage of this bill.

It has been a prolonged journey of three years, with the single largest submission of position papers, extremely healthy debate from both sides of the house, resulting in the final version of the bill, as passed into Law.

We specifically want to thank the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, for his outstanding leadership in the entire process.

We also congratulate the Deputy Speakers and other leading members of our Parliament for the way they worked together to ensure a unanimous passage of this bill after meticulously reviewing the clauses, line by line.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the eight (8) gallant members of parliament who promoted this bill. Your courage and resilience in the face of threats from foreign powers and their local assigns is highly commendable and we salute you because they could not break your resolve to see this process through to its final and logical conclusion. Hon. Sam Nartey George, Hon Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Hon. Alhassan Suhuyini, Hon. Della Sowah, Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Hon. Helen Ntoso, and Hon John Ntim Fordjour, we honor you for leading this charge on behalf of all Ghanaians.

To the Coalition for proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values, its allied groups, the various Christian umbrella bodies and individuals who openly stood with parliament and supported the process throughout, we say God richly bless you.” Portions of the statement read.

However, leadership and members of A4CG is urging His excellency, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, to stand with Parliament, stand with the people of Ghana and to stand by his Christian faith and give his assent to the bill as passed.

“We are aware of the open display of displeasure and threats from Western Nations and their assignees on our nation and various supporters of the bill, yet we are confident that President Akufo Addo, will listen to Ghanaians and give assent.

Finally, we call on all well-meaning institutions, civil society organizations, churches, para church groups, chiefs, opinion leaders and families to educate the public, especially the youth, on the importance of this bill as we wait for the President to assent same into law and not to allow the mis-information that certain groups have begun to peddle, without reference to what is in the final law, to confuse citizens,” the statement added
