Ghana has an excellent manpower base, resources to successfully implement the 24-hour economy initiative – Goosie Tanoh

Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy, Mr. Goosie Tanoh, says Ghana can successfully implement the 24-hour economy initiative, one of the flagship campaign promises by the John Dramani Mahama-led administration during the 2024 electioneering campaign.

According to him, the country has an excellent manpower base and the resources to drive meaningful economic transformation.

Speaking at the official launch of the 24-Hour Economy policy on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Mr. Tanoh explained that the secretariat welcomes constructive criticism and suggestions, emphasising that such feedback is crucial to the programme’s continuous improvement and long-term success.

“We at the secretariat are confident that we will continue to receive constructive criticism and suggestions for further improvement. Criticism is always welcome,” he said.

Describing the 24-hour economy as a “living programme,” he explained that it is enriched in science and grounded in firm social democratic principles, but flexible enough to respond tactically to a changing environment.

Mr. Tanoh emphasised that the initiative is designed to evolve through learning and adjustments as circumstances change.

“We will learn many lessons along the way and make numerous adjustments. This is the only way a programme can transform our society in the short, medium, and long term.

We can say without a doubt that our President is a true champion of responsible entrepreneurship and national transformation. We, as a country, we as a people, have what it takes to succeed,” he said.

The 24-Hour Economy policy aims to create jobs, boost productivity, and drive inclusive national growth by promoting round-the-clock operations in key sectors such as health, manufacturing, transport, and retail.
