Water shortage hits Kumasi following shutdown of Barekese, Achiase treatment plants

The shutdown is due to a major burst on the 36-inch transmission line that supplies water to a greater part of the Kumasi metropolis.
In a statement, GWL explained that the transmission line was damaged following the construction of drains from the Suame roundabout to Breman Ahenful.
Some affected areas include Suame, Asoka, Bantama, Barekese, Manhyia, Oforikrom, Kwadaso, Adum, KNUST, Asokore Mampong, and surrounding areas.
Ghana Water assures the affected communities that its engineers are working diligently to repair the line and resume operations as soon as possible, adding that water supply will resume immediately upon completion of work.
