Initially, the Minority led by its leader had planned to demand a secret ballot, citing concerns over George’s social media posts against the Chief Justice and former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, and his conduct during his vetting.
The Minority also kicked against Mr. Ablakwa’s nomination citing his inability to furnish the Appointments Committee with documents covering his rental agreement and his involvement with the activities by the Operation-Recover-All-Loot (ORAL).
Minority Leader Mr. Afenyo-Markin explained that the decision to abstain was influenced by calls for restraint, leading them to step back to avoid further controversy.
