Ellah Esinam Nongo elected new MCE for Adentan Municipal

Assembly Members from the Adentan Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra region have approved President John Dramani Mahama’s nominee, Ms. Ellah Esinam Nongo, for the position of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

As enshrined in the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), assembly members of the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) held a Special General Assembly Meeting on Monday, May 5, 2025, to confirm or reject the President’s nominee for the position of MCE. At the end of the exercise, Ms. Esinam Nongo pulled 13 out of the 18 valid votes cast to confirm her nomination.

The 13 yes votes she secured represent 72.22%, which is well above the two-thirds threshold required under Section 20 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

Break down of the votes cast are as follows; Yes: 13, No: four (4) and one (1) Rejected. The confirmation election was supervised by personnel from the Electoral Commission (EC).

In her acceptance speech, Ms. Esinam Nongo thanked God and expressed deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the appointment.

“I thank the President for entrusting me with this responsibility. It is an honour I do not take lightly,” she said.

Ms. Esinam Nongo pledged to work with all stakeholders to make Adentan Municipal a model municipality.
